The trailer system: how we clean faster, safer, better

Paul built his own water-fed trailer rig from the ground up. It's the reason a job that takes some crews two days takes us about two and a half hours — without cutting a single corner.

Water-fed reach, ground to roofline

Most window cleaners show up with a bucket, a squeegee, and a ladder. I show up with those too — but for a lot of jobs, the tool that actually gets the work done is a trailer I built myself, set up around a water-fed pole system. It's not something you buy off a shelf and use out of the box. I put it together, piece by piece, to solve a problem every crew on this coast runs into: a lot of the glass worth cleaning is up high, over decks, above landscaping, or on a wall you can't safely lean a ladder against.

The water-fed pole changes that. The trailer carries the water and the reach; the pole extends up to glass that would otherwise mean scaffolding, a lift, or a ladder in a spot I'm not comfortable putting one. Purified water runs through the system and rinses the glass to a spot-free finish without a squeegee ever touching it — which matters most on tall, hard-to-reach panes where a streak would be nearly impossible to catch and fix from the ground.

What it actually saves

Speed is the most obvious difference, and it's not subtle. I had a job not long ago that another crew had quoted at two full days and $700 — they didn't have the right setup and it showed in their timeline. I did the same job with the trailer in about two and a half hours. Same glass, same result, a fraction of the time, because I wasn't fighting the reach the way a ladder-and-bucket crew has to.

"A job that took someone else two days took me two and a half hours. Same glass. Different tool."

Safer, and honestly a better result

Fewer ladders means fewer risky setups — for me and for whatever's underneath the window, whether that's a flower bed, a deck, or a walkway. And because the water-fed system rinses with purified water instead of a soapy wipe-and-squeegee pass, the finish comes out clean without the streaking that hard water and mineral spots can leave behind on this coast. It's not a shortcut. It's a different way of doing the same careful work, faster and with less risk.

I built this rig because I wanted to do right by the work without spending twice as long as necessary doing it. It's become one of the real reasons people choose Brookings over a crew passing through — the tool is mine, the standard behind it is mine, and it's not something you'll find on every truck on this coast.
